In a city as vibrant as New York City, internships are plentiful and offer wonderful insight when it comes to the workforce and your career path. Over the summer, I started my first internship with none other than NARS Cosmetics. It still feels surreal when I say it out loud.

With NARS, I am a color product development intern so my days are full of touching, swatching, and playing with makeup. It is a real-life dream. I started off on the permanent core color team where I gained experience with color matching, shade classification, and proposing opportunities for the lip and cheek categories. Currently, I am helping with limited life collections and it is so interesting to see how both teams work.

Although every day is different, I spend time reading trend reports, doing competitive research, and several other responsibilities that involve handling products. In addition, I have helped my manager approve computer-generated product shots from the creative team, to ensure our shades and textures are properly depicted. As a product development intern at NARS, I have learned so much and I owe this to the incredible environment and culture of the brand.
